The fashion industry defines petite any woman who is shorter than 5”4’ . However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to look sexy, attactive and stylish. No matter what your shape is, in the following fashion tips you’ll undoubtedly find useful information you can apply for any dressing occasion. These fashion tips come from our style consultant Melbourne who has worked for major shopping centres and TV stations. The first rule you need to know is to avoid broad and ample cuts that tend to “horizontalize” your look. Go instead for clothes that fit you well. Ban also from long skirts and dresses. better opt for short ones because they put more value to your legs. And if you were to choose between a Bermuda and a short, go for the latter. What particularly give the illusion of longer legs are small tops or short jackets with high waistline skirts or trousers. When you have a small shape, you should often draw attention to “verticality”. You can achieve that by wearing garments with vertical lines for instance and also by putting on a long scarf with a short dress. As for colors, the most important thing to note is to wear monochrome because two different colors will divide your body in two. So you’d rather select a top and trousers that are somehow close in colors. For the beach, choose the 2 pieces triangle swimsuit that have breeches attached with a string on each side. The “échancré” will extend the legs. Stay away from the short style swimsuit that gives the impression of shorter legs. You can also choose to put value on other areas of your body that you particularly like: Your shoulders or décolleté for instance. That way, people will tend to focus on that particular part of your body rather than your short size. For accessories, prefer small ones instead of enormous necklace, bracelets, bags and Jackie Kennedy sunglasses style that give the impression that the rest of the body is smaller. While long hair won’t help you much in appearing taller, pulling your hair with a headband or styling it in chignon will certainly add more height to your upper body. Our final fashion tip for petite is about high heels. You are certain to gain more height with them. However, avoid the ones with ankle straps and go rather for the open styles. You don’t have to be perched on 3” high heeled shoes. Choose the ones in which you feel at ease wearing while working or going to the supermarket and that don’t cause you backache..
